Starting Your First Recording Session

Learn how to select an appointment and record your first clinical session in ClinDoc. This guide is for users with a connected integration.

Once your integration is connected and appointments are synced, you're ready to record your first session. ClinDoc records the audio from your consultation, transcribes it, and uses it to generate structured clinical notes.

Using manual mode? See the companion article "Starting a Session in Manual Mode" for the flow without a linked appointment.

Before you start

  • Your integration is connected and appointments have synced (check Settings → Integrations)
  • You have reviewed your note template
  • Your device has a working microphone (or you have an audio file to upload)

How to start a session

  1. Open Agent View from the sidebar.
  2. Select an appointment from the left panel. This loads the patient context and associated details.
  3. Optionally adjust the template and language in the session settings bar.
  4. Click Start Session. Your browser will request microphone access if it hasn't already.
  5. Conduct your consultation as normal. You can Pause and Resume recording at any time.
  6. When finished, click Finish and Generate Note. ClinDoc will upload the audio, transcribe it, and begin generating your clinical document.

You can also upload a pre-recorded audio file instead of recording live. Use the dropdown next to the Start Session button and select Upload audio file.

During the recording

While recording, you'll see an active recording screen with an audio level indicator. The session is automatically saved in chunks to protect against connection drops or browser crashes.

  • Pause/Resume — pause when stepping away, resume when ready
  • Discard — cancel the recording without generating a note
  • Finish and Generate Note — end the session and start document generation

If your browser closes unexpectedly during a recording, ClinDoc will attempt to recover the session when you return. Audio is saved locally as a backup and can be uploaded once you're back online.
