Generating Your First Clinical Document

After recording a session, ClinDoc automatically generates a structured clinical note. Learn how the generation process works and what to expect.

Once you finish a recording session, ClinDoc processes the audio, transcribes it, and generates a structured clinical note based on your selected template. This article walks you through what happens and what to expect.

How document generation works

After you click Finish and Generate Note, ClinDoc goes through several stages:

  1. Upload — the recorded audio is uploaded to ClinDoc's servers. For large files, this may continue in the background.
  2. Transcription — the audio is transcribed into text. The status shows "Waiting for transcription" during this phase.
  3. Generation — using the transcript and your selected template, the AI generates a structured clinical note. You'll see the document stream in section by section in real time.
  4. Draft ready — the document is saved as a draft for you to review and edit before finalizing.

Automatic vs manual generation

By default, ClinDoc auto-generates a note as soon as transcription completes, using your default template. You can also:

  • Generate a new version with a different template by clicking Generate New and selecting a different template
  • Regenerate individual sections if a particular section didn't capture the consultation accurately

The quality of the generated note depends on the recording quality and how well your template sections match the consultation. If the output isn't what you expected, try adjusting your template's section instructions.

What to do next

Once your document is generated as a draft, you should review it for accuracy and make any necessary edits before finalizing. See the article on Editing and Finalizing a Document for the next step.
